The Jets are on the clock, but not just for draft picks.
With the Jets and Packers finalizing a trade for Aaron Rodgers, the window for contention is wide open for New York. The Jets held onto a 2023 first-round pick and one of their two second-round picks, so expect the roster to take a step forward in a meaningful way once again.
Even with the biggest hole (quarterback) filled, New York has plenty of roster spots to remedy in this year's draft. With question marks along the offensive line and safety, GM Joe Douglas still has work to do to wash away the stench of the season-ending, six-game slide New York finished on in 2022.
Their work to allay fans' Super Bowl doubts continues at the 2023 NFL Draft — even if Rodgers did a lot to R-E-L-A-X the fanbase.

Jets NFL Draft needs
- Offensive line: GM Joe Douglas has fashioned himself as an offensive line savant, but the unit has been a work-in-progress for years. With the returns of Alijah Vera-Tucker and Mekhi Becton, the Jets may have an improved line in 2023, but they still will desperately need insurance if one or both don't bounce back in an impactful way.
- Safety: While D.J. Reed and Sauce Gardner were the league's best cornerback duo in 2022, the team still needs big help in the back end. The Chuck Clark trade was good, but the team really needs a rangy center fielder at safety to mix with its litany of box safeties.
- Linebacker: C.J. Mosley played himself into a second-team All-Pro nod last year, but the Jets need to look to the future for their linebacker spot. Robert Saleh's defensive is predicated around a do-it-all type 'backer, and the Jets were routinely sliced up over the middle of the field because of their limited range and covering abilities in 2023.
